ABS Kids Postdoctoral Fellowship
Our postdoctoral fellowship training program offers specialized training in identifying, assessing, and diagnosing autism spectrum disorder as well as other neurodevelopmental differences, including intellectual developmental disorder and ADHD.
We strive to empower children with neurodevelopmental differences and their families to reach their full potential through diagnosis and individualized ABA therapy. We aim to make high quality services available to all children and families impacted by neurodevelopmental differences.
Postdoctoral Training Experience
The ABS Kids postdoctoral fellowship is a 12-month training program during which each fellow will earn hours needed for licensure (up to 2,000 hours). The expectation for direct clinical work, once fully trained, is up to 26 hours per week. However, weekly hours also include individual and group supervision, monthly didactic training, as well as collaborative case consultation meetings.
At ABS Kids, we specialize in neurodevelopmental assessment, with focused training. The training year runs from Sept. 9, 2024 – Aug. 29, 2025.
Aims
The ABS Kids postdoctoral fellowship program aims to broaden the knowledge and expertise of early career psychologists. We transition them into professional clinicians, proficient in assessment and intervention for children with autism and other neurodevelopmental differences, including intellectual developmental disorder and ADHD. Particular emphasis is given to diagnostic testing and comprehensive report writing.
ABS Kids programs serve a diverse population reflective of the region’s demographics. The fellowship year facilitates a smooth transition to professional functioning through the acquisition of advanced clinical skills that integrate theory and practice. Clinical experience, along with didactics and supervision, assist fellows in developing critical thinking, self-reflection and interpersonal skills to provide the tools and strategies needed throughout their career.
Qualifications
Applicants must have received a Ph.D. or Psy.D. from an APA-accredited or Canadian Psychological Association (CPA)-accredited clinical, counseling, or combined psychology program, and must have completed an APA-accredited or CPA-accredited psychology internship program.
Fellows must function at an advanced level and express specific interest in psychological testing and working with children. Prior experience working with the ASD population is recommended but not required.
To be eligible, the selected applicant must also have completed the dissertation and all other doctoral degree requirements before Sept. 1 of the fellowship training year.
