CHULA VISTA, Calif.; May 15, 2024 – ABS Kids, a leading provider of services to children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), announced a new applied behavior analysis (ABA) therapy center has opened in Chula Vista (1177 Broadway Suite 6) to expand autism services for families across greater San Diego. ABS Kids has plans underway to open a second center in Chula Vista and construction has begun on a new center in El Cajon. This will bring ABS Kids to four centers in Greater San Diego, with additional centers across five Southern California cities as well as in Utah, Tennessee and North Carolina.
Beyond its therapy centers, ABS Kids advocates for the greater autism community, regularly hosting and partnering with local organizations for sensory-friendly and structured playtime events. This includes the upcoming partnership with the Splash for Cash event with Autism Society San Diego on Sunday, May 19, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Aqua Pros Swim School. Everyone who helps fundraise for Splash for Cash is invited to attend this pool party for free with their family.
“Our mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of children with autism, and this new ABA center will allow us to reach even more families in need of high-quality therapy and diagnostic services across the city,” said ABS Kids Regional Vice President Francisco Chavez, MA, BCBA. “Providing access to this care is part of our vision, and we are striving to meet that increasing need in California. Like other locations, this new center is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, resources and experts to deliver personalized and compassionate care to each child.”
According to the 2023 Community Report on Autism done by the CDC, 1 in 22 4-year-old children (4.6%) and 1 in 22 8-year-olds (4.5%) in California were diagnosed with ASD, based on 2020 data. Both those rates are higher than national averages for each age set.
