Charlotte, N.C.; June 20, 2024 – A leading provider of services to children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), ABS Kids will open a new applied behavior analysis (ABA) therapy center in Charlotte (9720 South Tryon St., Suite A) on July 8 — the organization’s 16th facility in North Carolina. With this upcoming opening, ABS Kids will have 35 centers nationwide in California, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Utah.
According to the most recent data provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on ASD rates in North Carolina, 2.5% of 8-year-olds in the study were diagnosed with ASD, higher than the national average (1.85%).
“Our expansion in the state aims to directly address this need for these families,” said ABS Kids North Carolina Regional Vice President Allyssa Leary. “This center, along with our others in North Carolina, gives children the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. It also helps us create a path to critical social development that can empower them at home, at school and for the future.”
To celebrate the new Tryon St. center, ABS Kids is also holding two events:
1. A baseball game for families at Atrium Health Ballpark in nearby Kannapolis in partnership with the Cannon Ballers this Sunday (June 23)
2. An open house on July 13 at the newly opened center
The Cannon Ballers game will include an adapted in-stadium experience that is welcoming and inclusive of those with sensory sensitivities. Sensory accommodations include fewer public address announcements, reduced volume throughout the ballpark, limited motion graphics on the videoboard, no fireworks after the game and an onsite quiet room.
