Personalized Services and Sensory-Friendly Group Experiences Across the State
CHARLOTTE and GREENSBORO, N.C.; April 17, 2024 – ABS Kids, a leading provider of services to children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), announced two new applied behavior analysis (ABA) therapy centers have opened in Greensboro (420 Gallimore Dairy Rd. Ste. B, Building 1) and Charlotte (300 Billingsley Rd. Suite 107), providing additional access for autism services for families across the state. ABS Kids now has centers across seven cities in North Carolina and continues to grow across the state as well as in other regions that currently include California, Tennessee and Utah.
Beyond its therapy centers, ABS Kids also advocates for the greater autism community, which includes in-home therapy options and organizing important group experiences for children with ASD and their families. ABS Kids regularly hosts sensory-friendly and structured playtime events and partners with local organizations to further advocate for local autism communities, which includes two events open to the public this month and next:
- Sensory Friendly Day during the upcoming Winston-Salem Dash game on Sunday, April 28. As part of Autism Acceptance Month in April, the Dash and ABS Kids are hosting a neurodiversity celebration, which adapts the in-stadium experience to include fewer public address announcements, reduced volume throughout the ballpark and limited motion graphics on the videoboard.
- Toddler Time, a free six-week social skills group for children 2 to 6 years old, will be held every Tuesday in April at ABS Kids’ Concord location and every Tuesday in April and May at ABS Kids’ Charlotte location
“According to a recent CDC report, North Carolina has a higher prevalence of ASD diagnoses than the national average, so there is a critical need for access to autism therapy and early diagnosis services across the state,” ABS Kids North Carolina Regional Vice President Allyssa Leary said. “North Carolina continues to be a priority area for our expansion, so we can provide access to this kind of care for families in need. ABA therapy and these group experiences offer unique and critical development opportunities for children with ASD in this area.”
